Last summer I went to Portland to visit my friends Josh and Amy and their daughter Olive. I took pictures of everything i ate, took pictures of Olive eating, and on days i went out alone i’d come back and show Olive what i ate on my camera screen. Well, today i got a cute text from Amy with this shot (see the last picture) of Olive at dinner last night. Looks like some little part of me rubbed off on her..and from the look on her face, she seems into it!

I have been craving good Italian food lately. The best Italian meal i’ve ever had was not in Italy, but in Portland. Although Portland has A TON of vegan food, available anywhere and everywhere, i only had a few tell-everyone-about-this-cos-it’s-fucking-delicious meals. One of those amazing meals was at Portobello. I had been reading blog reviews about Portobello for a while and knew it was on the “must go to” list. I am so glad i did, but too bad it was on my last night.
I went with my friend Josh, who lives there. We didn’t have to wait for a table, cos we had a reservation, which i would HIGHLY recommend, since right after we got there it got packed and people waited a long time for a table. The crowd surprised me cos it was a little older overall than at most vegan restaurants than in LA, but i thought that was pretty cool. The food was priced well and it felt cozy inside. We shared everything. We got an amazing beet tartare for a starter, then waited 45 minutes (for some reason, food in Portland takes forever..that bummed us out, but the food was so delicious it made us forget, kinda) and then had a pizza with a homemade cashew crema, potato gnocchi , seasonal ravioli, then a lemon pistachio tart and tiramisu for dessert. Man, i wish this place had a location in LA. So fantastically delicious! MMM!

slugs as big as my middle finger and a bright blue dragonfly, spotted in the Nike forest, Portland, Oregon. I was told to keep my eyes open for the big slugs, cos apparently it is like slippin’ on a hot dog.. or a poo! YIKES! el grosso…
last month i had the pleasure of staying with my good friends josh, amy,+ olive in Portland…and on the “things to do” list was eat huckleberry pancakes. these were delicious. thanks so much guys! ps. olive, i miss you!!!
