Banzai Bowls..i can’t wait to try every bowl on their menu. YUM!
I went to HB last weekend and I had the perfect lunch for a hot day (that felt like summer) at Banzai Bowls. There are other locations in OC, but this one is in downtown HB near the pier. The 2 bowls shown are acai bowls: the OG and the Maui Sunrise… totally delicious and refreshing and covered in granola and fruit.
M cafe, i love you..
especially having lunch on your patio with friends..
this post features jen sandoval, yours truly, a big macro burger, and the M chopped salad.
red juice. tasty juice. healthy juice.
i had 3 kinds of oranges for my juice today…blood, navel, valencia.
kinda gorgeous, sunset-ish.
FPF!!! Food Porn Friday, my peeps!
Here is MY version of fast food when i’m out. You kinda gotta know where the Japanese Markets are in your area, but here in LA/ OC i know where they are and can always run in if i’m out and need a meal. Quick, fairly inexpensive, and delicious.
here’s what i got goin’ on..
-perilla mushroms (if you know what shiso tastes like, it tastes like that) in a kinda salty + sweet sauce.
-edamame
-inari with EXTRA pickled ginger. sweet rice with sesame seeds in tofu pouches. my fave.
Mitsuwa market is fanastic. this food was from the costa mesa store, fyi OC peeps.
i just got back from my London vacay and i feel like i need to drink fresh juice, lots of juice..you know, to cancel out all the crap i ate. here’s the before and after. impressive, right?
M café..yum
my friend Josh is ready to devour his lunch, obviously.
pictured are the Carolina-style BBQ seitan sandwich, the M chopped salad, and assorted inari sushi with miso soup.
this basket of veg + fruit juiced = dark red deliciousness. i could never eat that many veggies in a meal, so why not drink ‘em?
DANG…
I love fruit, especially summer fruit. i love a deal, especially on ..well, anything.
All this food was about 13 bucks, no lie. i made 2 trips in one day to this produce place cos the first time i was on foot. i went back with my car and got the heavy stuff later. people who say eating healthy is too expensive don’t know or don’t care enough to find a neighborhood produce place/ethnic market to shop at. there’s enough fruit here to be breakfast and snacks for a family of four for at least a week! Instead i’ll just make fresh squeezed OJ every morning & bake a nectarine/apricot crisp this week and make a fresh peach pie next week.. In LA i have Super King. In OC (my mom’s hood) i now have Bruce’s Produce. I realize it’s not gonna be that cheap at Whole Foods or some big name grocery stores, but they are out there.. Lil’ gems that give u great produce at a great price!
Here’s what i got..14 yellow peaches, 7 white nectarines, rainier cherries, bing cherries, a 10lb bag of oranges, a honeydew, raspberries, blackberries, a bag of apricots, a head of broccoli, a bell pepper, an onion, a carrot, and a bag of corn chips=12.76!! shocking and awesome.
