Chinatown in London..
one of my favorite places in London, right in Soho.
LA has a shitty one, Boston has a cool one, SF has a good one, and even though i can’t really remember visiting the one in NY, i think i did. This Chinatown was my favorite one yet! i hung out here alone a few nights. i loved it, just wandering around, checking out the products in the markets, eating sweet bean pastries, and taking pictures. i love the hanging meat in the windows. most of the restaurants had an employee standing in the doorway holding menus, smiling, trying to lure you in. i don’t eat meat but i found it fascinating. the squids were BRIGHT orange! i asked one lady why they were so orange and she said “food coloring”. i said “people like that? they like when it’s orange?” and she giggled and said “yes, they do” and smiled at me. i wouldn’t think a bright orange squid would make someone want to eat it more, but who knows, i loved those bright pink Hostess Sno Balls when i was a kid.
